a. Language
French and Haitian Creole are the official languages of Haiti. The children speak Creole, and learn French in school. We hire translators to work with the team while we are spending time with our children. A knowledge of French is a huge plus as it allows you to both communicate with the children and also to become more familiar with the staff who works with us.
b. Phones
The team leader will have a phone with international service that is available for team use. If anyone needs to use the phone it is available – if used excessively you may be asked to contribute to the cost. There is internet at the Mission house. It is recommended to check with your cell provider to ascertain what the services are that they offer in Haiti.
