We all arrived safely!
We all arrived safely in Les Cayes after a long day of travel! As our tires were changed twice on the way from Port-au-Prince, we enjoyed the lovely Haitian night sky and delightful weather. Today our first day with the children exceeded the teams expectations. Our cement gray house is now painted with beautiful Haitian colors. The English lesson was also a huge hit – and also greatly benefited the community. The team is well fed, tucked in and rejuvenating for a great Wednesday. Stay tuned!! Read more »
Successful move to our new rented home!
The children of Restavec Freedom Alliance are now living in their new home in Chantal, Haiti. We are just days away from our first anniversary. What better way to celebrate than to see the children happy in their new home! Today was a great day, and a day of firsts: first tap tap ride, first river fording, first bag of water, first popsicle, first swim.. We took the tap tap today, which are bus-like things, with stations and routes that aren’t obvious, though apparently established, but couldn’t get one to Chantal, so instead ended up going to Dices. Update from Frances and Meghan 9/30/11
Frances and Meghan are doing well in Haiti. They have practiced driving the motorcycle for a few days and began driving themselves to Chantal on Wednesday, 9/28/11. They’re having a great time with the children. Below is a picture of them and the Chantal crew. On Thursday, 9/29/11, Frances and Meghan went to go visit the children at the H.E.L.O. orphanage.
