Chantal, Haiti
Our first home was opened in December of 2011 and is a rented house near our land in Chantal. The home is for children who used to be restavec. They are now living a wonderful life.
Currently we have 18 children living with Pastor and his wife. We also have a part time nurse and three part time teachers. Bunk-beds define the home with separate sleeping areas for our 8 girls and 12 boys, which include the two of the Pastor and his wife. Housewares, tables, chairs, cooking equipment are in use. We are bursting at the seams and have a waiting list of 100 children!
We are in the process of building our first permanent home in Chantal, Haiti. This construction project will cost us around $60,000. We also plan to build a school to serve our children and the children of neighboring communities. We have applied for a grant to build desks for the children in preparation for our new school. Recently a new well has been built on our property, pictured below. This follows our mission as being both a home for our children and a place to serve and help the community. Once this new home has been built, we plan to open another home in a church. Once we have raised enough funds we will build another permanent structure for those children. Donate to allow us to complete this project!
We are looking to build a play yard, library, computer lab – all in the future. Our plans are to design the structures on the land to use the abundant solar power available. The children in Haiti are definitely living a much better life than before.
Ducis, Haiti
As of early 2013 our new home in Ducis, Haiti is operational and the new RFA children are living at our rented home. Many of these children are yet to be sponsored. Please go here to see pictures of the new children.
In Ducis we plan to build an outhouse near the school (which also serves as a church). Once our home construction project is finished in Chantal we will being to build our own home in Ducis. After that has been completed, we plan to build a school at the same location.
